The Crusade

The first Crusade was ordered by Pope Urban. It was started to take over thland were Jesus was buried. The Catholic church regrets this because of the amount of violence they used. The Curhch teaches to be patient and faithful and this event says the opposite.

Gladiator Fights

Gladiators were slaves,criminals and at one point christians.They were forced to fight with eachother and animals to death.The victor is the person who lives. If the gladiator wins all his fights for 3 consecutive years they earn their freedom.They are part of one of the many distractions for the people in ancient Rome.

Some of the distractions today in the U.S to day are: sports, televison, movies, malls, amusement parks, etc. Some sports are similar to gladiator fights b/c two men fight for glory. Most of the time sports are violent. As humans we are entertained by the pain of others.

In our opinion, we are just like the ancient Romans who watched these barberic events. Just as they did, we are entertained by violence and the pain of others.

Hellenistic Culture

HOW DID HELLENISTIC CULTURE START?

When Alexander the great conquere Egypt,the land of India,Persia and greece, he put them all together, causing cultural diffusion.All of the cultures came together in one place and he named this the Hellenistic culture.
